Has anyone ever had their index finger to become swollen and ice cold due to a fingernail fungus?.?

My husband’s index finger from the tip of the nail to the first joint, turns ice cold and becomes very painful. This has been going on for over 6 months now. At the beginning his finger would tingle and them become ice cold, after about 2 months of this happening daily usually around bedtime, a sore appeared at the tip of his finger and continued under his nail. The sore was about the size of a matchhead, and looked kinda of sponge-y. The tip of his finger is extreamly painful and throbs like a heart beat. Does anyone have any advice on what might cure this, our family doctor gave him pills and a cream that is comparable to TINACTIN. But it doesn’t work. Thank you very much

My advice…Take him to the doctor for a second opinion! It could be anything from an infection, to a malignant growth. It sounds like it’s not your run-of-the -mill fungus.
My experience with men going to the doctor is that they do not explain the pain and symptoms to their doctor like they do to their spouses…(always wonder why this is…). But anyhow, go with him, insist they check for infection, circulation, nerve issues, etc. Good luck.

I agree with sunday siren. The fact that it’s cold suggests that it has poor circulation. If something isn’t done about it he could end up losing the finger.
